The Council joined five other Lee County cities in sending a resolution to the state Legislature requesting that Amendment 1 monies be used to buy U.S. Sugar lands south of Lake Okeechobee. Purchasing these lands is considered critical to restoring the flow of water through the Everglades and replenishing the aquifers.
An updated ordinance for the establishment of the Planning and Zoning Board and the Design Review Board was reviewed and discussed. This ordinance will be presented for a vote on April 17. Candidates for these two boards go before the Council on April 10.
The first readings of two ordinances were approved regarding the rules of communication and record keeping.
The Council also approved a proclamation regarding the Estero Council of Community Leaders’ efforts to incorporate the Village of Estero.
