Council Business

Council approved adopting a suspended bidding procedure in order to contract with a traffic engineer to conduct a traffic study of Coconut Road.  Village Manager Steve Sarkozy will contract with Trebilcock Consulting Solutions, P.A. to conduct this study for a cost of $16,500. This study is being conducted due to issues regarding the volume of traffic, safety and environmental concerns associated with the addition of four 22-story high rise buildings being proposed on the Raptor Bay Golf Club site.  It was necessary to suspend bidding in order for the study to be conducted prior to the Bonita Springs City Council vote on this issue on February 3.

There was a second reading and approval of Ordinance No. 2016-01, approving the third budget amendment for FY 2015-2016 due to an additional, one-time expenditure of $200,000 associated with occupying the new Village Hall building in March.

aThe first reading of Ordinance No. 2016-02 to rezone 1.36 acres from mixed planned development to commercial on the west side of US 41 south of Pelican Sound Drive was continued to a time certain when a staff report can be developed.

Council agreed that the process should be that a staff report be prepared prior to all zoning requests brought before the Council.
