Volunteers of America is looking to rezone a 21-acre parcel on the east side of Sandy Lane and Corkscrew Road for a 340-bed continuing care facility, ranging from independent living apartments to skilled nursing and memory care.
The Estates at Estero River would feature “Old Florida” architecture and include an open campus with an auditorium, which also could be used by civic groups.
The project would be completed in two phases, with 160 employees at build-out.
Volunteers of America is working with Greystone Communities Inc., developers of The Terraces in Bonita Springs, to develop this facility.
The group has conducted three meetings with nearby residents to garner support for the facility. If approved at a later date, they predict the project would be completed by 2019.
The developer for the property at US 41 at Pelican Sound Drive wants to rezone 1.26 acres from a mixed use planning development to a commercial planned development to allow for a 15,000 sq. ft. building for commercial use. They are proposing the possibility of one portion of the building to include a drive through.
The Southwest Florida Markets LLC is seeking approval for a seasonal Farmers Market on Saturday mornings until 1 p.m., during season from November 7, 2015, through April 30, 2016.
The two action items which were approved were a Publix liquor store adjacent to the Publix grocery store at the Corkscrew Village shopping center at US 41 and Corkscrew Road, and allowing the Legacy Church to move from its current location on Estero Parkway into the Galleria commercial office park on Corkscrew Road.
