More than 8,000 people turned out to hear Presidential Candidate Donald Trump’s stump speech at Germain Arena on September 19, 2016.
Mayor Nick Batos opened the event by welcoming the crowd to Estero, “…a place that is blessed with people who love their community and are willing to step up and devote their time to helping make their community an even better place.”
Among those speaking prior to Trump’s talk were: former US House Speaker Newt Gingrich, Republican congressional nominee Francis Rooney, Rep. Dane Eagle and state representative candidate Byron Donald.
Also in attendance were Rep. Heather Fizenhagen, Lee County Commissioners Brian Hamman and Cecil Pendergrass and Councilmember Katy Errington.
Trump is the first Republican presidential candidate to visit Southwest Florida since President George W. Bush’s re-election campaign in 2004. In 2008, Sarah Palin spoke at Germain Arena.
