ribbon cutting bannerThe Village of Estero is inviting residents to attend the official ribbon cutting event celebrating the completion of renovations to Estero Parkway at 10 a.m., Thursday, December 10.

The event is being held at the entrance to The Cascades community located at 9400 Cascades Isle Blvd., off of Estero Parkway.

Koreshan State Park – starting December 5

koreshan state parkGuided Tours of the Historic Settlement are back.  Explore the 19th century religious Koreshan Unity Settlement, its structures, and gardens. Join their guided walking tours and learn about these idealistic pioneers. The walking tour is about an hour and a half and starts Saturday, December 5.  They will run at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays through March 2021. Guided Tours are $5 (non-refundable) and limited to 10 individuals per tour. South County Regional LibraryThe Library’s Author Series will present Kimmery Martin, an emergency medicine doctor-turned novelist whose works of medical fiction have been praised by The Harvard Crimson, Southern Living, The Charlotte Observer and The New York Times, among others. Her latest book is “The Antidote for Everything”.

This presentation is part of an author series provided by the Florida Library Association featuring award-winning and best-selling authors of various genres to inform, educate and entertain. Authors spend time chatting about various topics.  This one will be presented in a virtual on-line, day-long program Friday, December 18.

Lee County Domestic Animal Services

petsLee County Domestic Animal Services is celebrating the upcoming holiday season with a Gift Giving Tree.

The tree is available now in the adoption lobby at Animal Services, 5600 Banner Drive, Fort Myers. It is decorated with ornaments with a wish list of gifts for the shelter pets. Visitors can pick an ornament, fulfill a wish and return it to Animal Services by Monday, Dec. 21, to help make the animals’ holiday a little brighter. The ornament is yours to keep for your tree.

The adoption center is open 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The shelter has dogs, cats, bunnies and guinea pigs looking for a home just in time for the holidays. Visit the Animal Services website www.leelostpets.com to see pets that are available for adoption.
