The Planning and Zoning Board (PZB) conducted its organizational meeting on Tuesday, May 5, 2015.
Interim Village Attorney Burt Saunders provided a brief overview of the Florida Sunshine Law.
Nancy Stroud, the special Land Use Attorney for the Village Council and PZB, gave a power point presentation on the procedures and processes for the Board. The PZB will serve as Estero’s state-required Local Planning Agency, which all Florida counties and municipalities must have.
The PZB will also be responsible for conducting all public hearings on zoning approval requests for proposed new Estero developments and then making recommendations to the Village Council and/or taking actions itself on variances, deviations and special exceptions.
Lee County’s Principal Planner Chip Block and Department of Community Development staff will provide assistance to the Board for the foreseeable future. At present, land owners and developers will continue to go to the Lee County website for zoning permit applications at http://www.leegov.com/gov/dept/dcd/Permitting/Types/Pages/default.aspx.
The PZB’s next meeting will be at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 19, at the Estero Fire Rescue headquarters.
Further details will be included in the minutes of this meeting once they become available.
