The Village will be conducting a public workshop on January 12, 2016, at 5:30 PM at the Living Waters Church at 22100 S. Tamiami Trail to discuss development of a “true” Village Center east of US 41 where mixed use developments are envisioned that would provide opportunities for people to walk, bike, or drive to a variety of activities. The center could be integrated with key local features like the state park, the Estero River, the Community Park, Coconut Point, and Lee Memorial’s new medical facility south of Coconut Road.
The Village’s planning consultants, Bill Spikowski and Seth Harry, will update the public on steps that are being taken to enable this vision and will seek public input on incentives that might be granted to developers in the Village Center area in return for public benefits developers may offer to provide.
Cooperative efforts of the Village and major landowners may enable this goal to become a reality.
This workshop will be held at the Living Waters Church at 22100 S. Tamiami Trail. The church is on the west side of US 41 just south of Williams Road, directly across from the new Hertz headquarters.
