Approximately 500 residents came to the Estero Community Park on Saturday to pay tribute to all of our veterans, active military, first responders and Gold Star families.
District 5 Councilmember Rafael Lopez, served as master of ceremonies, Mayor Jon McLain welcomed the crowd, and U.S. Congressman Byron Daniels gave an inspiring talk before introducing the keynote speaker Lt. Gen. Gary Speer.
The event had something for everyone…face painting for children, an American classic & muscle car show for auto enthusiasts, free hot dogs, chips & cookies, mini-musicals featuring songs associated with World War II, the Korean, Vietnam and Gulf War, as well as talks by several veterans choreographed and performed by Spotlight Entertainment of Southwest Florida, Inc., and an enthusiastic performance by the New Horizons of Southwest Florida Children’s Choir.
Volunteers from many organizations throughout Estero worked together to bring this event to the community to honor those who are serving and have served our country.
