The meeting will start at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 20, addressing a contract with Hagerty Consulting, Inc., to assist the Village in preparing and submitting infrastructure grant applications.  Lee County received funds to support long-term hurricane recovery for the area, and Hagerty Consulting, Inc., would work with Village staff to get grant applications submitted to Lee County before the end of  May. The following information is provided by Cougar Contracting, Inc.: Corkscrew Road Widening Project – Phase I Construction Project:  The project widens Corkscrew Road to six lanes from Ben Hill Griffin Parkway to Fire House Lane, and to four lanes from Fire House Lane to Bella Terra Boulevard.  The project includes adding on-road bike lanes, some sidewalk, installing new drainage, and constructing a wildlife crossing approximately 1000 feet west of the entrance to Cypress Shadows Boulevard.  This crossing will coincide with a regional flow-way that crosses Corkscrew Road at that location. The Village of Estero will be installing shared use paths, lighting, and landscaping [...]

The Village Council conducted this special workshop in order to interview the 12  applicants for the Planning, Zoning & Design Board. Four members of the Board have terms that expire on April 30, 2024. In addition, there are two vacancies on the Board. The Land Development Code provides for a range of 7-9 members on the Board. Staff advertised for Board members, as well as verifying existing members’ interest in serving on the Board. Council will start their meeting at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, with a proclamation honoring the 39 Estero High School students who were presented the Cambridge Outstanding Learners Award. Action items include a proposed contract for turf installation at the Jeff Sommer Stadium and a project manager services contract. There will be first readings of ordinances regarding financial responsibility, procurement and investment.  There will be a second reading and public hearing of Ordinance 2024-03 pertaining to code enforcement. The following information is provided by Cougar Contracting, Inc.: During the nighttime/overnight hours on Sunday, March 3 the contractor is scheduled to shift traffic. Westbound traffic will be shifted to the north side of the road to allow for work in the median. This will open turn lanes at many of the intersections. Some intersections may have intermittent turn lane closures to finalize work.  Left turns are currently permitted travel lanes. Crews are installing signage, guardrail, sod, and fencing throughout the project.
