The Board will conduct a workshop on the Land Development Code at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday.  They will be addressing the site development standards and natural resources portion of the code. The Board started with a public information meeting for the School District of Lee County.  The School District will be requesting a Comprehensive Plan Amendment to develop an elementary and middle school on Three Oaks Parkway. The 68.5-acre undeveloped parcel is located south of Copper Oaks, southeast of the Post Office and bounded by Three Oaks Parkway on the west and I-75 on the east. Local Ladies Social Network Inc. – Miromar Outlets Mall The Board started their meeting with a public hearing for the Local Ladies Social Network Inc.’s application for a weekly farmers market at Miromar Outlets Mall . at the corner of Ben Hill Griffin Parkway and Miromar Outlet Boulevard and east of Ford’s Garage Restaurant. The Farmers Market will operate on Fridays between 9 am and 1 pm., October 2 – April 30, 2021. There are between 30-40 vendors operating sales from tented stands. The applicant was requesting to rezone two lots on Corkscrew Road from agriculture to Estero Planned Development to allow for a variety of commercial uses in a two-story building including 8,000 square feet of office space, 1,050 square feet of restaurant, retail or café, and a 950 square feet of courtyard seating area. Local Roots LLC A representative for Local Roots LLC requested a temporary use permit for a seasonal farmers market to be held weekly at Coconut Point Mall.  They plan to sell farm produce and goods on Thursdays from 9 am to 1pm, from October 1, 2020 to May 27, 2021. Local Roots has operated at this site for the past four years. There are approximately 50 vendors that will be operating sales from tented stands. The Board approved the Local Ladies Social Network, Inc.’s application, with conditions, for a farmer’s market at the Miromar Outlets Mall. The market, which is currently in operation, was approved to operate one day a week on Friday, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., through September 25, 2020, in the parking lot adjacent to Ben Hill Griffin Parkway. They offer arts and crafts along with fresh fruits and vegetables at tables that are placed in order to observe social distancing. The applicant requested adding medical office use as a permitted use to an existing ± 7,000 square foot building. They are proposing a podiatrist office in the building, which formally housed Blockbuster Video and more recently the Athenian Academy School. There will be no changes to the exterior of the building; they will just be remodeling the inside of the building.
