During the nighttime/overnight hours of 9 p.m., Thursday, August 17 to 5 a.m. on Friday, August 18, crews will be dismantling the existing signal at the intersection of Ben Hill Griffin Parkway/Stoneybrook Golf Boulevard and Corkscrew Road. Motorists should expect the right turn lanes closed during this work. Law enforcement will be onsite to assist motorists. The new signal is estimated to be operational Friday morning; however, the signal detection will not be fully operational until next week. Delays should be anticipated. Hurricane season peaks from mid-August to mid-October The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is now calling for 14-21 named storms to develop this year, of which 6 to 11 could become hurricanes with 2 to 5 of those that could become major hurricanes. That increases the prediction for the year to “an above-normal level of activity.” Those numbers include the storms we’ve already seen this season: 5 tropical storms and Hurricane Don, which dissipated far off in the north Atlantic. The Planning, Zoning & Design Board will start their meeting at 4:30 p.m., Tuesday evening, August 22. The full agenda will be available here soon. Meetings are held in the Council Chambers, Village Hall, 9401 Corkscrew Palms Circle, near the entrance to the Estero Community Park. Residents may view the meeting here and provide public comment by utilizing the eComment Card on the Village website here. Comments must be received by noon one day before the actual meeting and they will be distributed to the Council/Board but will not be read at the meeting.
Estero High School instructional openings
Estero High School Principal Mike Amabile is reaching out to the community to help fill a number of teaching vacancies which have occurred unexpectedly within the last few weeks. The positions which are currently open are: Music Director, Math, ESE, English, Social Science, Counselor, Intervention Specialist and Spanish. Anyone with a bachelor’s degree interested in applying for one of these positions may contact Amabile. He will discuss the work involved and refer applicants to the Recruitment and Human Resources Departments to assist them in what they need to become certified. Council to conduct special meeting to address T & T property transfer agreement associated with Hertz Arena on July 26, 2023
The meeting will start at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, with Council reviewing the agreement to transfer ownership of the T & T Water Management System to the Village. T&T Umbrella Association, Inc., is an entity created to own and manage the stormwater storage facility located adjacent to the Hertz Arena.
