Estero’s Veterans Day event will celebrate our veterans with music & tributes on November 9
The Village of Estero is hosting a special free, patriotic and entertaining Veterans Day event from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., Saturday, November 9, at the Estero Community Park. The program will highlight mini musicals, featuring songs associated with World War II, the Korean, Vietnam and Gulf War, presented by Spotlight Entertainment of Southwest Florida. Capital Improvement Program among topics for Council on October 16, 2024
Council will start their meeting at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, with a proclamation for Special Magistrate Joseph Faerber and a certificate of recognition for budget preparation for the Finance Department. Council will then consider the renewal of lobbying services and conduct a first reading of an ordinance regarding Village property security and trespass policies. There will be second readings of ordinances pertaining to Estero Townhomes and the declaration of local emergencies. Household chemical waste collection scheduled for October 16 at Estero Park has been canceled due to Hurricane Milton
The next collection date at the park is 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15. Residential household chemical waste is accepted at the Topaz Court Solid Waste facility located at 6441 Topaz Court in Fort Myers, off Metro Parkway. This facility is open 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. – 12 noon on the first Saturday of each month (except holidays). For questions, call Lee County Solid Waste at 239-533-8000.

The Village of Estero reminds residents to keep the following in mind pertaining to the potential impacts of Hurricane Milton: Take photos inside and outside of your home for insurance purposes Secure important paperwork, medicines and valuables Take photos of your pets Sign up for AlertLee Know your zone here. Estero Recreation Center is open as an emergency shelter People living near Estero Bay and the Estero River are encouraged to continue to monitor water levels. Estero Sports Park and Via Coconut among topics addressed by Council on October 2, 2024
Estero Sports Park (leased property) Council approved a contract with Perez Planning + Design LLC for design services for the Estero Sports Park. The contract amount is $321,990, with a contingency of $34,000. Among the contractor’s responsibilities are preparing a master plan, holding 2 meetings for public input, guidelines for the site layout, and preparing a pattern book that summarizes the project’s design. The site is approximately 100 acres which will eventually be shared by the Village, Estero High School, County and residents. Household chemical waste collection scheduled at Estero Park on October 16, 2024
Residents will be able to dispose of household chemical waste safely and responsibly from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16. Items will not be accepted either before or after that time period. Chemical waste categories include items that are ignitable, corrosive, explosive and/or reactive and toxic, such as leftover paints, cleaners, herbicides, pesticides, automotive fluids and pool chemicals. Never dispose of these items in dumpsters, compactors or at curbside with household garbage or down a storm drain or in the soil.
