March election will bring changes in some Village districts
Redistricting of Council districts is required every 10 years in conjunction with the latest US Census to assure that all 7 Council districts are roughly equal in permanent population. The Village contracted Kurt Spitzer and Associates Governmental Consultants of Tallahassee to provide technical support to the redistricting effort. Hurricane Ian’s impact among topics for Council on October 19, 2022

Village Council election coming in March: candidates need to file paperwork soon
The Village of Estero will be holding an election on March 7, 2023, for Council Districts 3, 4, 5 and 7 where three of the four current Councilmembers will be termed out. The Village is asking residents from these districts to consider becoming a candidate for a four-year term Council position. To qualify, a candidate must have lived in the district they wish to represent for a minimum of one year. Household garbage: For public health and safety reasons, for the week of Oct. 10 residents are asked to help place wet, rotting garbage at the curb. If you are able, refrain from setting out dry household garbage until the following week. Recycling collection is scheduled to resume the week of Oct. 17. United Way providing box lunches for those severely affected by Hurricane Ian in Estero today, October 7
United Way will be providing box lunches for Estero residents today at the First Baptist Church, 20300 Trailside Drive, west of US 41. Volunteers with United Way will be going to those residential communities severely affected by the hurricane to let them know this service is available.
Hurricane Ian has left many suffering in Southwest Florida, including some of our Estero neighbors
Hurricane Ian has impacted all of us in Southwest Florida but has been catastrophic for several of our Estero neighborhoods. There are some residents who have lost everything – cars, household furnishings, clothing, precious keepsakes. Most of the damage has occurred in communities on the west side of US 41. This includes neighborhoods along West Broadway, Williams Road and Coconut Road. Some residents will have to completely start over, and recovery will be a long-term effort.
