Do more by doing less! No fertilizing between June 1 and September 30

During the summer months when Southwest Florida sees the most rain, improper and unnecessary fertilization can result in runoff that sends nutrients into local waterways. Reduce Pollution by Directing Wastewater away from Pavement
Directing wastewater to grassy or landscaped areas instead of over pavement keeps the water from picking up oils, wastes and chemicals that get to our waterways via storm drainage. Redirecting water flows to natural areas helps filter and dilute the water. Re-routing gutters, washing your car on the grass, and directing sprinklers away from pavement all keeps our environment happier and healthier. For more ways to ensure your home water use is safe and efficient, see our page for homeowners.
