Lee County residents are urged to use caution Wednesday even as Hurricane Idalia has moved well away from the area. Coastal street flooding is still present and is expected to occur again midafternoon today at high tide. Avoid unnecessary trips. Gusty winds remain possible. Twenty-four individuals and families stayed in the Safe Haven at the Estero Recreation Center last night; it closed at 1 p.m. today. Any residents who have concerns post Idalia can call 2-1-1. Council conducted an emergency meeting on Tuesday in order to address a resolution pertaining to the potential threat of Hurricane Idalia.  The Village was taking action as a precautionary step to protect all residents.  A state of a local emergency is a necessary procedure to ensure the Village can recover any costs, should damage occur. Council adopted Resolution No. 2023-20, waving Section 5 No. 2, declaring a state of local emergency in the Village. Estero Forever Foundation partnering with the Village to begin work on the Estero River Park

The Estero Forever Foundation (EFF) has partnered with the Village to provide volunteers to help clean the grounds and assist with maintaining the existing buildings on the Estero River Park property. EFF is forming a “Brigade” of volunteers to accomplish this work.  If you would like to join the “Brigade,” please fill out the volunteer application here. Estero River Park, also known as Estero on the River, is located on the northwest corner of US 41 and Corkscrew Road.
