Corkscrew Road Widening Update from Lee County August 8, 2023
As a part of the Corkscrew Road Widening project, crews will be performing signal work on Wednesday night/Thursday morning. Please see details below: During the nighttime/overnight hours of 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Wednesday, August 9 and Thursday, August 10, crews will be dismantling the existing signal at Stoneybrook Golf Drive and Corkscrew Road. Motorists should expect delays during this work. Law enforcement will be onsite to assist motorists. The new signal is estimated to be operational Thursday morning. The August 8 Planning, Zoning & Design Board meeting has been postponed to August 22, 2023
The Planning, Zoning & Design Board will start their meeting at 4:30 p.m., Tuesday evening, August 22. The full agenda will be available here soon. Meetings are held in the Council Chambers, Village Hall, 9401 Corkscrew Palms Circle, near the entrance to the Estero Community Park. Residents may view the meeting here and provide public comment by utilizing the eComment Card on the Village website here. Comments must be received by noon one day before the actual meeting and they will be distributed to the Council/Board but will not be read at the meeting.
Estero High School instructional openings
Estero High School Principal Mike Amabile is reaching out to the community to help fill a number of teaching vacancies which have occurred unexpectedly within the last few weeks. The positions which are currently open are: Music Director, Math, ESE, English, Social Science, Counselor, Intervention Specialist and Spanish. Anyone with a bachelor’s degree interested in applying for one of these positions may contact Amabile. He will discuss the work involved and refer applicants to the Recruitment and Human Resources Departments to assist them in what they need to become certified. Council conducted a special meeting to address T & T property transfer agreement associated with Hertz Arena on July 26, 2023
This agreement allows the Village control of the floodways for flood mitigation. The Village has been working toward consolidating and better managing major stormwater retention projects under the Village’s stormwater permits with the Water Management District. T&T Umbrella Association, Inc., is an entity created to own and manage the stormwater storage facility located adjacent to the Hertz Arena, and holds the related Water District permits. Public Hearings Cheesecake Factory The Cheesecake Factory Restaurants, Inc., were requesting approval of outdoor alcoholic beverages service to patrons seated in two patio areas. The interior renovation plans for the restaurant include a total of 8,080 square feet of interior space with a bar, lounge, bakery, dining and back of the house operational areas. The exterior area, 1,620 square feet is comprised of the two outdoor covered patios with railing and landscape planters. Council to conduct special meeting to address T & T property transfer agreement associated with Hertz Arena on July 26, 2023
The meeting will start at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, with Council reviewing the agreement to transfer ownership of the T & T Water Management System to the Village. T&T Umbrella Association, Inc., is an entity created to own and manage the stormwater storage facility located adjacent to the Hertz Arena. Council will then address an agreement to allow the Village to acquire 100% of the stormwater management facilities serving the Hertz Arena and other proximate properties, and allowing the Village to share maintenance costs with KTB.
