The Village of Estero is providing links to the latest information offered by the  Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Florida’s Attorney General’s Office on its website. Presented both in English and Spanish, the information includes available resources for those working to recover from the hurricane, as well as warnings of prevalent scams. These links are updated on the website as soon as new information becomes available.

The following work activities are scheduled to occur, however unforeseen underground conditions and weather may affect this schedule. Crews are currently working on the south side (eastbound) roadway.  The contractor anticipates shifting traffic in early 2023 to allow for the construction of the bridge (animal crossing), box culverts, and roadway on the north side (westbound) of the project. Crews continue construction of the bridge/wildlife crossing between Wild Blue Boulevard and The Preserve at Corkscrew that will allow animals to cross under Corkscrew Road, similar to the crossing just east of Alico Road. Public Hearing Pelican Sound River Club zoning amendment The applicant was requesting to amend the Pelican Sound zoning and master concept plan to allow for pickleball facilities within the golf maintenance and storage area.   They will be installing an 8-foot-tall fence and gates covered with sound deadening material and the players will be using “quiet” or “green zone” equipment.  The schedule for play will be between 8 a.m. and dusk.  No lighting of the facilities is involved. Please make sure all hurricane debris is placed in separate piles (building debris & yard waste).  No hazardous materials, recyclable materials or regular household trash should be included in either pile. Do not place any hurricane debris in plastic bags or trash cans as the debris hauler is not able to pick up any debris that is placed in plastic bags or trash cans.

Village Council reluctantly came to a consensus at their October 19 meeting to cancel the planned November 12 Veterans Day event due to the ongoing efforts by staff to address the impacts of Hurricane Ian. The next planned family-oriented community event will be Light up Estero in December.

Mayor Katy Errington told a large group of residents from The Vines that the Metropolitan Planning Organization’s (MPO) Rail Trail Feasibility Study was not on the agenda but they were welcome to speak.
