Lee County Utilities will be temporarily converting its disinfectant process from chloramines to free chlorine residual from July 1 through July 21, 2022. This is a routine measure that is common for water utilities using chloramines as its primary disinfectant. Anyone who uses a kidney dialysis machine at home should contact an equipment supplier so the proper filtering equipment may be installed. Tropical fish or aquatic animal owners should contact a local tropical fish store for appropriate pretreatment of water before adding water to tanks. The following work activities are scheduled to occur, weather permitting. During the nighttime/overnight hours of 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Monday, June 20 through Wednesday, June 22, crews will be installing the signal arms over the roadway at Corkscrew Road and Ben Hill Griffin Parkway. Congratulations to teacher Kea McElfresh and her students Estero High School students videotaped a Public Service Announcement (PSA) which has recently aired on WINK-TV to help educate the public on the impact of drunk driving.  Here’s a link to the video.  The Estero students’ PSA addresses what can result from driving drunk. The videotaping took place over several days and was coordinated by Kea McElfresh, Theater/TV Production teacher at Estero High School, with WINK-TV, Estero Fire Rescue, Lee County Sherriff’s Office, Bonita Video and Estero Life Magazine. The following work activities are scheduled to occur, weather permitting.  Beginning Monday, June 13, the contractor will begin underground work in the driveway of The Preserve at Corkscrew (Cypress Shadows Boulevard).  Crews will first work in the entrance and the exit will be open to two-way travel.  Once this work is complete, the contractor will move to work in the exit and both directions of travel will use the entrance.  Work in the entrance is expected to continue for approximately one month.   Beginning Monday, June 13, motorists using Wild Blue Boulevard should expect two-way traffic to use the community’s entrance (east side). Work in the [Read More.]

Community Development Block Grant – Urban Cooperation Agreement FY 2023-25 The meeting started with Council approving this joint resolution with Lee County. This agreement for HUD funding includes federal entitlement funds for infrastructure, public facilities and improvements, affordable housing, and similar uses.  The funds must be used in areas designated as low- and moderate-income areas, delineated by Census Tract. The Census Tract areas in Estero include an area west of US 41 and south of Broadway, and east of US 41 and south of Broadway extending to I-75. Please note, work in the driveway at The Preserve at Corkscrew has been postponed until mid-June to allow for utilities to be moved out of the area.  Work in the Wild Blue driveway will continue through June. The following work activities are scheduled to occur, weather permitting.  Motorists using Wild Blue Boulevard should expect crews working underground in the entrance to Wild Blue.  Currently crews have the inbound driveway closed and the exit is open to two-way travel.  Once the contractor completes this work in the entrance, they will switch traffic to the entrance and move to work in the exit.  Work in [Read More.]
