Lee Commissioners award contract for Larry Kiker Preserve
The Lee Board of County Commissioners voted October 19, 2021, to award a contract for Phase 1 of the planning, design and permitting for the Larry Kiker Preserve, formerly known as Edison Farms, which is in southeast Lee County and is the second-largest Board acquisition in the history of the county’s Conservation 20/20 program. When completed, the preserve will serve multiple functions – water quality, flood control, wildlife habitat and passive recreation. Via Coconut Council will start their meeting at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday with a proclamation and key to the city presentation for American Idol Top 4 finalist and Estero resident Casey Bishop. Council will then address a shared-use contract for engineering services to design site improvements for the Estero PreK-8 school to be located on Three Oaks Parkway. Gulfshore Opera Divas in Duet
Gulfshore Opera (GO) recently presented a delightful al fresco concert featuring the talented Divas in Duet soprano Erika Ramirez (left) and mezzo soprano Lydia Howery performing a variety of songs and duets from classical, Spanish and popular songs accompanied by pianist Kelly Utterback. This was just one of the many special performances GO has lined up for the season. SAVE THE DATE! Public Hearings Truist Bank Representatives for Truist Bank (formerly BBT Bank) were requesting approval for the removal of all existing (BBT) signage and the design of their new monument and directional signs internal to the project. Corkscrew Road Widening Project – Phase I Construction Project Update
The project widens Corkscrew Road to six lanes from Ben Hill Griffin Parkway to Fire House Lane, and to four lanes from Fire House Lane to Bella Terra Boulevard. The project includes adding on-road bike lanes, some sidewalk, and new drainage. Work begins this fall to construct a wildlife crossing approximately 1000 feet west of the entrance to Cypress Shadows Boulevard, which coincides with a regional flow-way that crosses Corkscrew Road at that location. The applicant was requesting approval of a development order for phase one of their project which consists of 141 lots at the north end of their site, along with their entry feature and gatehouse.
