Estero Country Club, Clean Machine Car Wash and Corkscrew Crossing to address Design Review Board on Wednesday, January 13, 2021
The Board will conduct public information meetings at 5:30 p.m., for the Estero Country Club expansion, Clean Machine Car Wash’s proposal to construct a drive-thru car wash approximately 200 feet north of Aldi’s and Corkscrew Crossing’s proposed residential community with the entrance directly opposite Wild Blue on Corkscrew Road. COVID-19 Vaccine Update – Florida Department of Health and Lee County Government announce new vaccination site and launch reservation system
The Florida Department of Health and Lee County government will launch a reservation system and a new, larger site for free COVID-19 vaccinations for frontline healthcare workers and people age 65 and older. The reservation system will launch Monday and vaccinations will resume Tuesday at a single site east of Interstate 75 off of Daniels Parkway. It’s the site of the old airport terminal parking lot. Message boards will direct traffic to Paul J. Doherty Parkway. Only people with appointments will be vaccinated. Council addressed an amendment to the CARES Act on December 30, 2020
The meeting started with Lee County Sherriff’s Office Community Liaison Amy Dell Aquila describing the Deputy Dog Program. The program began with the rescue and adoption of the dog Chance who was found with his mouth taped shut. Deputy Chance’s main initiative is to prove animal abuse is never acceptable. Aquila then introduced special guests Estero resident Richard Wilbanks and his dog Gunner. Wilbanks and Gunner made national news recently when Wilbanks rescued Gunner from the jaws of an alligator. Estero Chamber, Corkscrew Road traffic signal and Capital Improvement Program among topics to be addressed by Council on January 6, 2021
Council will start their meeting at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, reviewing the Estero Chamber of Commerce’s Strategic Plan for Future Growth and Impact, and conducting the first reading of ordinances for a traffic signal at Corkscrew Road and Puente Lane and the Capital Improvement Program. Council will then conduct public hearings for the Firestone rezoning case and a Comprehensive Plan amendment for the annexed property located at 4528 and 4408-4410 Coconut Road.
