Corkscrew Road Widening Project – Phase I Construction Project:
- Corkscrew Road is now in its final configuration from Ben Hill Griffin Parkway to Bella Terra Boulevard. Motorists should expect isolated flagging operations with periodic lane closures as the contractor works through the final project punch list. Motorists should also expect construction vehicles entering and leaving the roadway.
- Crews continue installing signage, sod, and fencing throughout the project.
The work activities above are scheduled to occur, however unforeseen underground conditions and weather may affect this schedule.
Corkscrew Road Widening Project – Phase 2 Construction Project:
- Crews are installing water main from Wayside Lane to the eastern boundary of Corkscrew Shores.
- Crews are installing a force main on the north side of Corkscrew Road.
- During daytime hours, the contractor continues earthwork as a part of the new pond construction east of Corkscrew Shores.
- Crews are installing erosion control and traffic control devices throughout the project.
- Crews may be working close to the roadway. Motorists are asked to drive with caution. Sidewalks may be closed in areas throughout the project as the contractor performs underground work.
Work by FPL in project area:
- FPL crews are installing new overhead primary power lines and power poles east of Corkscrew Shores to Alico Road. Please use caution as crews work close to the roadway.
Please use caution and watch for workers and construction vehicles entering and leaving the roadway. Estimated completion is spring 2026. Project cost is approximately $27 M.
