Drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists are urged to use extra caution when traveling through the work zone. 

  •  During the week of Monday, May 12, motorists should anticipate lane closures throughout the project area for crews to place asphalt. Flaggers will be on site to assist motorists.   
  • Crews will be installing drainage throughout the project area on the south side of Corkscrew Road. Motorists should expect trucks and equipment to be moving materials throughout the project.
  • Motorists should expect intermittent daytime flagging for crews to perform earthwork close to the roadway. The contractor is placing embankment for the new road on both the north and south sides of Corkscrew Road.  Please be aware that trucks may be entering and leaving the roadway.
  • A new traffic signal has been installed at the intersection of Corkscrew Road and Alico Road which became fully operational on Thursday, April 17. Motorists are urged to drive with caution.
  • Crews will be installing utility conduits and light pole bases on the south side of Corkscrew Road from Wayside Lane to Alico Road.
  • Crews will be performing earthwork and transporting dirt as part of the pond construction east of Corkscrew Shores. Motorists should expect heavy truck traffic entering and leaving Corkscrew Road in that area.
  • Sidewalks may be closed in areas throughout the project as the contractor performs underground work.

 The work activities above are scheduled to occur, however unforeseen underground conditions and weather may affect this schedule. 

 Please use caution and watch for workers and construction vehicles entering and leaving the roadway. Estimated completion is spring 2026. Project cost is approximately $27 M.
