The following work activities are scheduled to occur, however unforeseen underground conditions and weather may affect this schedule.

  • Beginning Monday, November 14 through Friday, November 18 during the nighttime/overnight hours of 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.,crews will be removing and installing utilities under the Bella Terra driveway.  During this time, one half of the driveway will remain open to two-way traffic.  This is work is scheduled during nighttime hours and both the entrance and exit are expected to be open during the daytime hours.
  • Beginning this week, motorists should expect dump trucks pulling in and out of traffic near the driveways of The Preserve at Corkscrew and Bella Terra. Motorists will be guided to stop short of the stop bars when leaving these communities to provide space for the trucks to back in along the roadway and deliver limerock to build the road.  Flaggers will assist motorists when necessary.
  • Crews are currently working on the south side (eastbound) roadway.  The contractor anticipates shifting traffic in early 2023 to allow for the construction of the bridge (animal crossing), box culverts, and roadway on the north side (westbound) of the project.
  • Crews continue construction of the bridge/wildlife crossingbetween Wild Blue Boulevard and The Preserve at Corkscrew that will allow animals to cross under Corkscrew Road, similar to the crossing just east of Alico Road. The box culverts are completed on the south side.  Before completion of the crossing, a 10-foot-high fence will be installed to funnel the wildlife to cross at this location.  Motorists should be aware of vehicles entering/exiting the road in this area.
  • Bicyclists should expect the bike lane from Stoneybrook Golf Drive to just east of Wildcat Run to be combined with the travel lane while crews work on the north side of the road.
  • Pedestrians should expect the sidewalk on the south side of the road closed from Ben Hill Griffin Parkway to Stoneybrook Golf Drive while the Village of Estero constructs the shared use path.
  • Currently in the area between Wild Blue Boulevard and Cypress Shadows Boulevard (The Preserve at Corkscrew) vehicles are using temporary lanes on the north side of the road to allow crews to work on the south side of Corkscrew Road.
  • Turn lanes are currently unavailable at Wild Blue Boulevard, Cypress Shadows Boulevard (The Preserve at Corkscrew), Midnight Blue Boulevard, and Bella Terra Boulevard (eastbound right-turn lane).
  • WORK PERFORMED BY OTHERS:
  • GL Homes is actively working in their development site across from Wild Blue Boulevard.  Motorists should expect delays and use caution as construction vehicles enter/exit the roadway. On heavy haul days, GL Homes will be providing flaggers to reduce backups on Corkscrew Road.
  • The Village of Estero has begun construction on the shared use path on the south side of the road east of Ben Hill Griffin Parkway.  This path is planned to extend just east of Bella Terra.  Additionally, the Village will be building a shared use path on the north side of the road to east of Grandezza.

Crews are installing curb, drainage, and sod, as well as performing earthwork, road base construction, and relocating utilities. MOTORISTS ARE REMINDED TO OBEY THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT. Please use caution and watch for workers and construction vehicles entering and leaving the roadway. Estimated completion is late 2023. Project cost is approximately $23 M. The contractor is Cougar Contracting, LLC.
