The following work activities are scheduled to occur, weather permitting:
- Thursday, May 19 and Friday, May 20, motorists should expect signal crews working in the Ben Hill Griffin Parkway intersection. Crews will be setting signal uprights. This is scheduled to be a moving operation with intermittent closures of the westbound to northbound and southbound to westbound turn lanes.
- During daytime hours, motorists should expect the westbound right turn lane from Corkscrew Road to northbound Ben Hill Griffin Parkway closed for crews to perform underground utility work. Motorists will still be able to make right turns while this work occurs, however delays should be expected at this intersection while lanes closures occur in this area.
- Bicyclists should expect the bike lane from Stoneybrook Golf Drive to just east of Wildcat Run to be combined with the travel lane while crews work on the north side of the road.
- Crews continue work on the southern side of the Ben Hill Griffin Parkway/Corkscrew Road intersection. Please use caution as crews work near the roadway.
- Crews continue construction of the bridge/wildlife crossing between Wild Blue Boulevard and The Preserve at Corkscrew. Motorists should be aware of vehicles entering/exiting the road in this area.
- Pedestrians must use the temporary walkway on the south side of Corkscrew Road from Ben Hill Griffin Parkway to Stoneybrook Golf Drive.
- Currently in the area between Wild Blue Boulevard and Cypress Shadows Boulevard (The Preserve at Corkscrew) vehicles are using temporary lanes on the north side of the road to allow crews to work on the south side of Corkscrew Road.
- Turn lanes are currently unavailable at Wild Blue Boulevard and Cypress Shadows Boulevard (The Preserve at Corkscrew).
Crews are installing curb, drainage, and sod, as well as performing earthwork, and relocating utilities. MOTORISTS ARE REMINDED TO OBEY THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT. Please use caution and watch for workers and construction vehicles entering and leaving the roadway. Estimated completion is late 2023. Project cost is approximately $23 M.
