Corkscrew Road Widening Project – Phase 2 Construction Project
- A new traffic signal has been installed at the intersection of Corkscrew Road and Alico Road. Motorists should expect the signal to enter flash mode on Monday, April 14, and it is expected to be fully operational on Thursday, April 17. Motorists are urged to drive with caution.
- Motorists should expect a flagging operation on Corkscrew Road during the nighttime/overnight hours of 11 p.m. on Friday, April 11 to 4 a.m. on Saturday, April 12 for crews to install utilities.
- Motorists should expect periodic driveway closures throughout the project area for crews to work on underground drainage. Flaggers will be onsite at Corkscrew Estates and Corkscrews Shores to assist motorists when those driveways are impacted by the work. Access will be maintained.
- Crews will be installing utility conduits and light pole bases on the south side of Corkscrew Road from Wayside Lane to Alico Road.
- Crews will be transporting dirt as part of the pond construction east of Corkscrew Shores. Motorists should expect heavy truck traffic entering and leaving Corkscrew Road in that area.
- Motorists should expect intermittent daytime flagging for crews to perform earthwork close to the roadway. The contractor is placing embankment for the new road on both the north and south sides of Corkscrew Road. Please be aware that trucks may be entering and leaving the roadway.
- Crews are removing the old water main from Wayside Lane to Alico Road.
- Crews are installing raw water main on the south side and force main on both sides of Corkscrew Road.
- During daytime hours, the contractor continues earthwork as a part of the new pond construction east of Corkscrew Shores.
- Crews are installing erosion control and traffic control devices throughout the project.
- Crews may be working close to the roadway. Motorists are asked to drive with caution. Sidewalks may be closed in areas throughout the project as the contractor performs underground work.
The work activities above are scheduled to occur, however unforeseen underground conditions and weather may affect this schedule.
Please use caution and watch for workers and construction vehicles entering and leaving the roadway. Estimated completion is spring 2026. Project cost is approximately $27 M.
