Corkscrew Road Widening

The following work activities are scheduled to occur, weather permitting:

  • Beginning on Monday, March 28, crews will begin construction of the bridge/wildlife crossing between Wild Blue Boulevard and The Preserve at Corkscrew.  Motorists should be aware of vehicles entering/exiting the road in this area.

  • Crews are installing mast arms at the Ben Hill Griffin Parkway intersection. This week crews are working in the northwest corner.  During daytime hours, motorists should expect one of the southbound right turn lanes from Ben Hill Griffin Parkway to Corkscrew Road closed, and the westbound right through lane closed. Next crews will move to the south side of the intersection to install the remaining mast arms.

  • Crews continue work in the median just west of Ben Hill Griffin Parkway.  Drivers are urged to use caution as work occurs near the travel lanes.

  • Pedestrians must use the temporary walkway on the south side of Corkscrew Road from Ben Hill Griffin Parkway to Stoneybrook Golf Drive.

  • Currently in the area between Wild Blue Boulevard and Cypress Shadows Boulevard (The Preserve at Corkscrew) vehicles are using temporary lanes on the north side of the road to allow crews to work on the south side of Corkscrew Road.

  • Turn lanes are currently unavailable at Midnight Blue Boulevard, Wild Blue Boulevard and Cypress Shadows Boulevard (The Preserve at Corkscrew).

Crews are installing curb, drainage, and sod, as well as performing earthwork, and relocating utilities. MOTORISTS ARE REMINDED TO OBEY THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT. Please use caution and watch for workers and construction vehicles entering and leaving the roadway. Estimated completion is fall 2023. Project cost is approximately $23 M. The contractor is Cougar Contracting, LLC.
