Public Comment: A resident expressed his concerns regarding a commercial building being built in his neighborhood.

Council started their meeting with a workshop regarding an unsolicited proposal from High 5, a Texas restaurant and entertainment enterprise expressing interest in some portion of the 20-acre property on the north side of Williams Road, south and west of the Estero Community Park and Estero High School.

This proposal is presented as a public-private partnership to provide the Village with an opportunity to generate income as well as create an amenity for the community.  The income could be used to provide sports fields and other recreational activities for Estero.

Volunteers with the Estero Forever Foundation are currently operating and maintaining the Golf Coast Driving Range on part of the property, with profits going to the non-profit foundation and ultimately back into the community.

Further details of the High 5 proposal will be provided at a future Council meeting.  Other unsolicited proposals are also expected in the future.

Public Comment: 1 eComment card was placed in the record and a resident spoke against building indoor pickleball courts at this site.

utilitiesBroadway West Utilities Expansion Project workshop

The design of the Broadway West Utilities Expansion Project is moving forward in development of the permitting and construction plans. Most of the field surveying and data gathering have been completed, geotechnical borings and cultural evaluations are in process, sewer lift station locations have been identified, and the proposed sewer and water line layouts have been prepared.

The Village’s consultant will be soliciting public feedback on this project at a public meeting at the Estero Recreation Center on February 22. The consultant will be mailing a postcard to notify all property owners within the Broadway West project area about the workshop.

A web page dedicated to both the Broadway West and Broadway East projects has been prepared and will be online soon.

Residents may view the archived meeting by going to the Village website.

The next Council meeting will be held at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 1, 2023.
