Public Comment on non-agenda items: Nolen Rollins, Chair, Estero Chamber of Commerce, spoke about the financial impacts to the chamber as a result of the coronavirus pandemic which included the voluntary layoff of the director, and moving out of their rental offices and into the Legacy Church for free rent.  They do have seven new Board of Directors.

Ordinance No. 2020-04

Council approved, with conditions, this ordinance pertaining to an amendment to the South Estero Commercial Center Commercial Planned Development to allow for medical office as a use in the building that formally housed Blockbuster Video.  This building is located on the east side of US 41 south of Corkscrew Road in the Corkscrew Village shopping center.  There are 33 parking spaces, including four handicap spaces.  The applicant plans to refresh the paint and some of the landscaping in the perimeter buffer.  (Presentation)

Ordinance No. 2020-03

Council approved this ordinance, with conditions, pertaining to the rezoning of 8111 Broadway E. from agriculture to commercial in order to re-develop the old post office site and building for various commercial uses other than a restaurant.  The 4800 square foot building can be used for one or multiple tenants.

The applicant is planning to remove the western entrance to the property while widening the eastern entrance.  The building improvements will include a tower feature, columns, decorative brackets, canvas awnings and clay roof tiles.  The monument sign, which will be adjacent to the driveway, will replicate the building colors and be capped with clay tiles.  (Presentation)
