The Design Review Board conducted a public hearing on December 12 to review the proposed repainting of the exterior surfaces of Hertz Arena.
Representatives from Hertz met with neighboring communities to the arena, Tidewater and Grandezza, to address their new proposed paint palette.
Hertz demonstrated the views of the arena from the neighboring communities. They addressed where the color yellow would be intrusive to the neighbors, i.e., Tidewater to the north, so the new proposal does not include yellow in that portion of the building, as well as no yellow banding around the roofline at that portion of the building. The colors there are off white and grey. (Presentation)
Public Comment: 4 residents spoke, mostly in favor of the new color palette.
The Board made several suggestions including adding canopies over the entrance.
The Board approved this application with several conditions.
The Hertz Arena is located at 11000 Everblades Parkway, west of Ben Hill Griffin Parkway and north of Corkscrew Road. A new roof is being placed on the building to make it sustainable to a Category 5 hurricane.
