Residential garbage 

  • 40-gallon garbage can weighing fewer than 50 pounds.
  • No limit on the number of cans.
  • Use heavy duty garbage bags for additional garbage (50-pound weight limit).

Recycling

  • Place loose recyclables in approved containers – no plastic bags.
  • Recycling should be paper, cardboard, metal, glass and plastic containers.
  • Flatten extra cardboard and place it next to the cart.

Yard Waste

  • Must be placed in a container, tied or neatly stacked.
  • Each set out should be under 6 feet in length and under 50 pounds.
  • Can consists of grass clippings, tree branches, leaves, fallen fruit and dead plants.

Bulk Waste

  • Set at the curb next to regular garbage.
  • If it doesn’t fit in the truck, the hauler will tag it and come back for it within 3 days.
  • Construction debris must be fewer than 2 cubic yards per week.

Household Chemical Waste

  • Household chemical waste is not collected curbside.
  • Drop these items off at Lee County’s Household Chemical Waste Center at 6441 Topaz Ct., Fort Myers FL, 33966, bring to a collection event or an approved disposal facility.
