Lee County Update

  • Sakata Seed Corporation is ending legal challenges to Lee County’s limerock mining approval. On June 26, 2020, Sakata Seed Corporation, the multi-national corporation headquartered in Japan, and its subsidiary Sakata America Holdings, Inc., dismissed their Second Petition filed with DOAH that was filed challenging Lee County’s approval of a limerock mining Lee Plan Amendment. Lee County Schools

  • This is a critical week in deciding how students will return to school in August. There are two important meetings taking place and there is a page on our website where you can find official information regarding SDLC’s Reopening plans.
    The PreK-12 Education Pandemic Response Task Force is holding an additional meeting on Tuesday, July 7th at 4:00pm. They will be reviewing some final recommendations about the start of school. You can watch the meeting live or later at your convenience on the District’s YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/leeschoolstv
    District administrators will present a proposed plan for the return to school to the School Board at 1:00pm on Wednesday, July 8th. This meeting will also be broadcast live and available at your convenience on the District’s YouTube channel. The proposal will be a combination of task force recommendations, parent survey results, health department guidelines and community feedback through our dedicated reopeningschools@leeschools.net email address.

  • Join Cape Coral native and Houston Texan DB Jaylen Watkins and his nonprofit Opportunity Breeds Opportunities Foundation (O.B.O.) on July 12 as they partner with Suncoast Credit Union to kick off a three-part financial literacy virtual series on Facebook! This series will help you understand credit, financially prepare for college for you or your children and save for the future. If there’s one thing we can all agree on – life comes at you fast. 2020 is nothing like any of us could’ve imagined and many of us were not prepared. That’s why it’s important to be as prepared as possible. The first workshop will feature Fort Myers native, former athlete and Suncoast Credit Union Service Center Manager, Troy Simmons.
