~Seventh straight day below 10 percent positivity of new cases~
TALLAHASSEE — The Florida Department of Health (DOH), in order to provide more comprehensive data, releases a report on COVID-19 cases in Florida once per day. Today, Florida had the seventh straight day below 10 percent positivity of new cases. Today, the positivity rate for new cases in Miami-Dade county dropped below 10 percent.
Today, as reported at 11 a.m., there are 4,115 new positive COVID-19 cases and 174 reported deaths – 19 occurred yesterday, August 18. As posted on the Agency for Health Care Administration’s hospitalization dashboard at 12:15 p.m., there are 5,312 current hospitalizations with a primary diagnosis of COVID-19.
Test results for more than 67,822 individuals were reported to DOH as of midnight, on Tuesday, August 18. On August 18, 7.08 percent of new cases** tested positive.
To date, there are a total of 584,047 Florida cases*** with 9,932 deaths related to COVID-19.
Since August 18, the death of two hundred nineteen Florida residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have been reported in Alachua, Brevard, Broward, Charlotte, Citrus, Clay, Collier, Columbia, Dade, Duval, Escambia, Gilchrist, Gulf, Hernando, Highlands, Hillsborough, Lake, Marion, Okaloosa, Orange, Osceola, Palm Beach, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Sarasota, Seminole, St. Johns, St. Lucie, Sumter and Suwannee counties.

- To date, 4,179 individuals that were staff or residents of a long-term care facility have died.
