~Sixth straight day below 10 percent positivity of new cases~

TALLAHASSEE — The Florida Department of Health (DOH), in order to provide more comprehensive data, releases a report on COVID-19 cases in Florida once per day. Today, Florida had the sixth straight day below 10 percent positivity of new cases.

Today, as reported at 11 a.m., there are 3,838 new positive COVID-19 cases and 219 reported deaths – 12 occurred yesterday, August 17. As posted on the Agency for Health Care Administration’s hospitalization dashboard at 10:45 a.m., there are 5,491 current hospitalizations with a primary diagnosis of COVID-19.

Test results for more than 56,800 individuals were reported to DOH as of midnight, on Monday, August 17. On August 17, 7.91 percent of new cases** tested positive.

To date, there are a total of 579,932 Florida cases*** with 9,758 deaths related to COVID-19.

Since August 17, the death of two hundred nineteen Florida residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have been reported in Bay, Brevard, Broward, Charlotte, Citrus, Clay, Collier, Dade, Desoto, Duval, Escambia, Gadsden, Gulf, Hernando, Highlands, Hillsborough, Lafayette, Lake, Lee, Madison, Manatee, Marion, Okaloosa, Orange, Osceola, Palm Beach, Pinellas, Polk, Santa Rosa, Sarasota, Seminole, St. Johns, St. Lucie, Sumter, Suwannee and Volusia counties.

  • To date, 4,118 individuals that were staff or residents of a long-term care facility have died.
