~Eighth straight day below 10 percent positivity of new cases~

TALLAHASSEE — The Florida Department of Health (DOH), in order to provide more comprehensive data, releases a report on COVID-19 cases in Florida once per day. Today, Florida had the eighth straight day below 10 percent positivity of new cases.

Today, as reported at 11 a.m., there are 4,555 new positive COVID-19 cases and 117 reported deaths – 16 occurred yesterday, August 19. As posted on the Agency for Health Care Administration’s hospitalization dashboard at 11 a.m., there are 5,340 current hospitalizations with a primary diagnosis of COVID-19.

Test results for more than 77,100 individuals were reported to DOH as of midnight, on Wednesday, August 19. On August 19, 6.78 percent of new cases** tested positive.

To date, there are a total of 588,602 Florida cases*** with 10,049 deaths related to COVID-19.

Since August 19, the death of one hundred seventeen Florida residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have been reported in Bay, Brevard, Broward, Citrus, Clay, Collier, Columbia, Dade, Escambia, Flagler, Gulf, Hernando, Highlands, Hillsborough, Indian River, Jackson, Lee, Martin, Monroe, Nassau, Okaloosa, Orange, Osceola, Palm Beach, Pinellas, Polk, Santa Rosa, Sarasota, St. Lucie and Volusia counties.

  • To date, 4,232 individuals that were staff or residents of a long-term care facility have died.
