Estero Country Club expansion – public hearing

The applicant was requesting a limited development order for a 2,169 square foot expansion of the existing clubhouse, to construct 2 new bocce ball courts, replace the temporary pickle ball courts with permanent courts and to modify the parking and landscaping in the area.

The pickle ball courts will be further away from residents than the temporary pickle ball courts were, and the courts will not be lit.  The applicant stated that the paddles and balls used on the bocce ball courts are designed to reduce the noise of play by 30-35 percent.  (Presentation)

Public information meetings for this application were held August 26, 2020 and January 13, 2021.

Estero Country Club at The Vines is located east of US 41 north of Estero Parkway.

The Board voted to approve this application.

Coconut Trace Medical Office Center – public hearing

Coconut Trace Medical Office CenterThe applicant was seeking to construct a freestanding single-story 10,941 square foot medical office building on a 1.2-acre vacant site at 22904 Lyden Drive.  This property is located across the street from Coconut Point Mall, southwest of Autumn Leaves assisted living facility.

The applicant has met with their neighbors in Marsh Landing and they had no objections to this development.  The two-story, three-tenant building will be painted with aesthetic white with urban bronze and a stone accent.  They will be using a number of native plants in their landscaping.  (Presentation)

A public information meeting for this application was held January 8, 2020.

The Board made several suggestions to improve the development, such as adding a canopy over all the entrances and adding some color to break up the building.

The applicant requested a continuation of this application.

Old Post Office – public hearing

Old Post OfficeThe applicant was requesting approval of the development order and monument sign for the property located at 8111 Broadway E.. 200 feet east of US 41.  This property originally was developed by the U.S. Government for a post office.

The building includes metal trellises attached to the building planted with confederate jasmine, and the paint colors include fired brick, coral island, sunny veranda, light French grey, black bean and sunburst clay roof tile.  The monument sign was also part of this application.  (Presentation)

A public information meeting for this application was held November 13, 2019.

The Board voted to approve this application with conditions.

Lee Health Medical Building – public information meeting

Lee Health Medical Building The applicant is proposing to build a 20,940 square foot, two-story medical building on a vacant parcel which is part of the partially developed Shoppes at University Highlands.  This property is located at 19511 Highlands Oaks Drive on the southwest corner of Everblades Parkway South and Ben Hill Griffin Parkway.

The plan is for this to be a walk-in facility with family care, women’s health and rehab.  (Presentation)

The Board made a number of comments indicating the building lacks detail.  No voting occurs during public information meetings.

The Groves monument Sign – public information meeting

The Groves monument SignThe applicant is proposing to replace 3 of the 4 existing signs at the development’s entrances.

The Groves development is located north of Corkscrew Road and east of Sandy Lane. This is a 72-home non-gated community with two entrances; one entrance is on Broadway E. and one is on Sandy Lane.  They are proposing the lettering on the sign to be internally lighted.  (Presentation)

FineMark Bank & Trust – public information meeting

FineMark Bank & TrustThe applicant is requesting to repaint the existing two-story bank building white with shades of grey, with blue around the windows and the front door.

The bank is located at 10010 Coconut Road in the Brooks Town Center Shopping Mall on the northwest corner of Coconut Road and Three Oaks Parkway. (Presentation)

The applicant was informed that predominantly grey and white paint are not permitted in the new Land Development Code.
