Public Information Meeting
The meeting started with a public information meeting for the Oak & Stone restaurant, the first commercial building to request a development order in the Estero Crossing development. The applicant is proposing a one-story 5,300± square foot restaurant with white smooth finished stucco, stone columns, balconies with rustic wood detailing, barrel tiled roofs and trellises on the building. There will be an outdoor patio on the south side of the restaurant. Plans call for the restaurant to be open for lunch and dinner. (Presentation)
Estero Crossing is located 1,000 feet west of the intersection of Corkscrew Road and I-75.

Workshop
The artist for Estero Crossing’s art project, Mark Aeling, MGA Studio, presented some of his recent works. He then explained the inspiration for his proposed Estero artwork which is a trefoil knot, a sign of the past, present and future. He explained that it has no beginning and no end, a sign of perpetual cycles of nature. It will be 10.5’x6’x14’ tall and placed on a concrete base.
Estero Crossing was asking the Board to review the proposed art sculpture which will be placed in the center of their public space in the commercial area of the development. It will be illuminated at night. (Presentation)

Public Hearings
Clean Machine Car Wash was seeking a development order to construct a 3,610 square foot drive-through car wash and associated infrastructure, as well as a monument sign on a 1-acre vacant parcel.
The applicant presented updated renderings demonstrating the architectural design featuring a beige and brown color scheme with terra cotta awnings, canopies and roof. The car wash will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
This property is located on the east side of US 41 at the intersection of US 41 and Vintage Parkway. The vacant parcel is adjacent to Aldi Grocery Store and Walmart, where the applicant states most of the car wash customers will be coming from. (Presentation)
Public Comment: 2 residents from The Vines spoke of their concerns about this project.
The Board voted to approve this development order with staff conditions as well as having the applicant complete sound attenuation and compliance tests.
The Board then conducted a public hearing for the proposed paint colors for Extra Space Storage at Coconut Point. The applicant explained they are rebranding their units in new color schemes.
The Board stated this version does not reflect the colors in the Coconut Point pattern book. This application was continued to an August meeting.
Workshop
Representatives for Lee Health are requesting a development order to build a 20,000± square foot, two-story medical building on a vacant parcel in the partially developed Shoppes at University Highlands.
The applicant stated the building will be painted in colors complimentary to the colors of adjacent buildings, will include a tower, trellises, outdoor space and an outdoor patio area.
The first floor will contain a lab and rehabilitation area while the second floor will provide primary care and staff offices.
This project is located on the west side of Ben Hill Griffin Parkway about 2,000 feet north of Corkscrew Road. The project is bounded by the Longitude apartments to the north, Shoppes at University Highlands to the south; Grandezza residential on the east side of Ben Hill Griffin Parkway; and the Springs apartments to the west.
