ehsculThe first annual fundraiser for the Estero High School Culinary Program will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, December 19 at the Shadow Wood Country Club.

Called “Evening under the Shadow Wood”, this benefit gala and silent auction will generate funds to send the high school competition team to Orlando in March to compete in the Florida ProStart state culinary competition.

The fundraiser will also provide monies to purchase product for students to work with in class and purchase the necessary equipment needed to upgrade their kitchen in order to become a premier program.

The students will conduct a full, one-hour competition team demonstration where they will create their signature three-course meal in front of their guests.

This unique dining experience has limited seating and tickets are expected to sell out quickly.  Priced at $50 per person, you may secure your spot, or make a contribution directly to the school account, by going to the following link: https://squareup.com/store/estero-high-culinary.

The Estero High School Culinary program is a unique opportunity for students to learn skills and techniques used in the culinary industry.  With instructor Chef Jeremy Jasper, formerly at the Ritz-Carlton, the students learn what it really means to cook.

Using the ProStart curriculum developed by the National Restaurant Association, culinary students focus on safety and sanitation, proper knife skills, proper cooking techniques as well as skills necessary to be successful in the hospitality industry.

One of the goals of this program is to keep students in this area by providing them with the tools necessary to find good jobs.
