Jacob Winge reading the Declaration
Estero Historical Society President Gail Langner welcomed the crowd and started the celebration off with the Pledge of Allegiance. Noted patriotic singer Gary Israel then led in the singing of “God Bless America.”
Local historian Jacob Winge read the Declaration of Independence. Winge was joined by two other historical enactors dressed in authentic 18th-century period costume.
Estero Fire Rescue was there to raise a large American flag to add to the patriotism.
Following the ceremony, watermelon was served picnic-style for all attendees to enjoy.
The event was held on the grounds of the Estero Historical Society museum, located at 9285 Corkscrew Palms Blvd. in Estero Park.
