Public Information Meetings

The Board conducted four public information meetings on Tuesday.  Public information meetings are held prior to decision-making meetings, and no voting occurs during these meetings.

Estero Storage, LLC

Estero Storage, LLC, is seeking a zoning amendment at Plaza del Sol in order to construct a 7.08-acre mixed-use development including storage, hotel, retail/restaurant/medical office located at 10251 Arcos Avenue behind the car wash.  This property was zoned for an assisted living facility that was never developed.

Their plans call for a 110,000 square foot storage facility, 120 hotel rooms, and 18,000 square feet of commercial along with an area devoted to green space.  The architecture for the development is Mediterranean Revival with light colored textured stucco walls and clay tiled pitched roofs, as demonstrated in their pattern book.

The Board made a number of comments regarding the lack of undulation and flat roof on the proposed Extra Space Storage building, pedestrian safety in the parking lot and lack of trim color.

Goddard School for early childhood development

Goddard School

The Goddard School for Early Childhood Development is planning to build a 14,000-square foot school at 10100 Arcos Avenue at Plaza del Sol just south of the car wash.  The school will provide 12 months of service for 180 children, from 6 weeks to 5 years of age.

Their presentation demonstrated a two-story stucco building in shades of light gray with dark bronze accents and a Spanish tile roof.  There will be a 5,755 square foot fenced playground and the property will be enclosed with a 6-foot perimeter fence for security.  Parents will need to enter the building with a key fob or pin system.

The Board stated much work needs to be done regarding the architecture and paint colors of this building.

Home2Suites

Home2Suites by Hilton is proposing a 4-story, 111-room hotel to be located in an existing parking lot within the Coconut Point Mall, between existing buildings and Via Coconut Point.

The hotel will feature a fitness center, including Peloton Cycle Bar, outdoor swimming pool and amenity area.  The building will include canvas and metal awnings, wall sconces, and be painted in warm shades of cream with barrel tile roofing.

Toll Brothers Estero Townhomes

Toll Brothers Estero Townhomes

Toll Brothers Estero Townhomes is requesting to rezone the 21.4-acre property located at the northeast corner of Corkscrew Road and Sandy Lane to allow for a maximum of 171 townhome units at a height of 35 feet.  This property is currently zoned for a continuing care facility.

The applicant has already met with their neighbors to the north and to the east to make them aware of the future plans for this property.

They plan to have a fence with buffer along the north side of the property, and plan a pocket park adjacent to a lake and amenity center along Sandy Lane.

Public Comment: 7 eComment cards were placed into the record.  3 residents spoke, with one expressing concerns regarding traffic, density and safety.
