Approximately 500 residents turned out to help celebrate the 7th Anniversary of the Village of Estero on a sunny Saturday, March 5, 2022.
Billy Dean & Dawn, Estero’s own multi-talented musical duo, provided a lively concert from the beginning to the end of the event.
Residents were greeted by Village staff and family member volunteers and provided with an umbrella with the Village logo.
In addition to the music, there were bounce houses and face painting for the children’s enjoyment and food trucks for those wanting to eat.
Mayor Katy Errington welcomed the crowd and introduced the Councilmembers in attendance: Dist. 1 Joanne Ribble, Dist. 2 Larry Fiesel, Dist. 3 Vice-Mayor Jon McLain, Dist. 5 Jim Boesch and Dist. 6 Jim Ward. Mayor Errington represents Dist. 4 and Dist. 7 Councilmember Jim Wilson was unable to attend. She also described how productive the Village has been with the effective management by Village Manager Steve Sarkozy and the “government light” staff.
Vice-Mayor Jon McLain served as MC introducing Estero’s former mayors: the first being Mayor Nick Batos, second Mayor Jim Boesch and third Mayor Bill Ribble.
Vice-Mayor Jon McLainThe program also featured guest speakers District 3 Lee County Commissioner Ray Sandelli and FGCU President Dr. Michael Martin and speakers from Estero’s community organizations: Estero Chamber of Commerce, Estero Council of Community Leaders, Estero Fire Rescue, Estero Forever Foundation, Estero Historical Society, Estero Houses of Worship and the Estero Rotary Club.
The Village of Estero held its first Council meeting on March 17, 2015.
