A representative for the applicant presented their proposed colors for repainting the exterior surfaces of Germain Arena located at 11000 Everblades Parkway, west of Ben Hill Griffin Parkway and north of Corkscrew Road. The colors are Hertz yellow, tricorn black and extra white. They will be replacing the roof on the building to withstand a category 5 hurricane.
The representative stated that the building is not seen by adjacent properties other than from the north direction which would be seen from Tidewater so they chose to paint that portion of the building white. They also pointed out that as a sports arena it would be entirely unique to any other building in Estero so the color should be allowed to be consistent with their branding. (Presentation)
Public Input: Approximately 450 emails were received in opposition to the proposed color, the Council Chambers were filled with concerned residents and 11 spoke of their concerns.
The Board stated they were happy Hertz is taking over the facility and look forward to working on a tasteful compromise.
