Residents will be able to dispose of household chemical waste safely and responsibly from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19. Items will not be accepted either before or after that time period.
Chemical waste categories include items that are ignitable, corrosive, explosive and/or reactive and toxic. Never dispose of these items in dumpsters, compactors or at curbside with household garbage or down a storm drain or in the soil. Items which are not household chemical waste and can be set out with household garbage include: empty paint cans, empty automotive fluid containers, small engine equipment such as pressure washers, lawn mowers, weed eaters, small electronic parts such as routers, mice, keyboard, tires and small appliances.

In addition, residential household chemical waste is accepted at the Topaz Court Solid Waste facility located at 6441 Topaz Court in Fort Myers, off Metro Parkway. This facility is open 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. – 12 noon on the first Saturday of each month (except holidays).
