The Estero Historical Society is inviting the entire community to celebrate the 4th of July with a reading of the Declaration of Independence.  This is a great way to kick off the Independence Day holiday weekend, remembering the importance of what this day in American history represents.

This annual celebration starts at 10 a.m., Saturday, with local historian Jacob Winge who will be reading the Declaration dressed in authentic 18th-century period costume.

The Estero Fire Rescue team also will be there to raise the flag.

Following the ceremony, watermelon will be served picnic-style for all attendees to enjoy.

This special patriotic event will be held on the grounds of the Estero Historical Society Museum located at 9285 Corkscrew Palms Blvd. in Estero Park.
