Hurricane Irma debris Lee County will complete Hurricane Irma debris collection on Thursday, December 21, except for tree stumps. Tree stump removal will resume after the holiday break on Wednesday, January 3, 2018.

After December 21, all residential horticulture should be placed at the curb in compliance with normal collection operations. Check www.leegov.com/solidwaste

Some residential public drop-off sites remain open; all have closings slated:

  • Central Fort Myers site at Page Field, 4551 S. Cleveland Ave., will close at 5 p.m. today, Friday, Dec. 15;
  • South Fort Myers site at 14790 A&W Bulb Road, will close at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec 22.
  • North Fort Myers, 17771 N. Tamiami Trail, will close at 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8, 2018. (This site will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.)
  • Lee County Mosquito Control District site, 1840 Gunnery Road N., Lehigh Acres, will close at 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8, 2018. (This site will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.)

Lee County’s cleanup effort resulted in collecting more than 1.6 million cubic yards of horticulture and C&D (construction and demolition) debris in three months. The cost to clean up the debris is estimated at $36 million to $40 million in unincorporated Lee County and the Village of Estero, with anticipated partial reimbursement from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
