Estero Historical Society

Each year, the Estero Historical Society celebrates the 4th of July by bringing segments of history connected with the signing of the Declaration of Independence “to life” for all to enjoy.

This year the reading will be held at 10 – 12 p.m., Wednesday, July 4 at the Cottage.  Estero Fire Rescue will also be there.  Light refreshments will be served following the ceremony.

Koreshan State Park

Guided historic tours on Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m. – Explore the 19th century religious Koreshan settlement, its structures, and gardens. Join the guided walking tours and learn about these idealistic pioneers. The walking tour is about an hour and a half. Guided Tours are $2 for adults, $1 for children under 6 years of age and can be purchased at the Ranger Station (239) 992-0311.

The Sunday Farmers Market and native plant sale, 8 a.m. – 1 p.m., offers local and organic produce, fresh seafood, unique crafts, local honey, native plants, handcrafted jewelry, BBQ, Cuban food, beautiful art, and cool gifts.  In addition, native plant experts are on hand to help answer your questions and teach you all about the benefits of adding native plants to your landscaping.

Lee Health – Healthy Life Center

Including more plant sources of protein into your diet offers health benefits.  Learn more by attending the Whole Food Plant-Based Program series which will feature plant-based proteins from 12 – 1 p.m., Wednesday, July 11.  RSVP

South County Regional Library

On Monday, July 9, from 6:15 – 7:15 p.m., Katie Adam’s Cracker Cinderella will be fascinate children who have completed K-5th grade.  In this original version of Cinderella, puppets crafted like old fashioned dolls, a helpful tree fairy and a gown made of magic moss all combine to bring a unique flavor of old-time Florida to this beloved rags-to-riches tale.

Tickets will be given out one week before the program on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The Lee County Library System’s summer reading program, Libraries Rock!, continues to celebrate the joy of reading through August 11, with weekly programs designed to spark curiosity and engage library users of all ages.

Libraries Rock! Bingo provides adults with opportunities to win prizes, such as books and gift cards, while exploring library resources. The adult programming includes a variety of topics such as crafting, genealogy, business workshops, book discussion groups and gardening programs.

Miromar Outlets

Miromar Outlets will feature free 45-minute beginner’s class for families with toddlers to tweens during their Family Yoga with Kathryn from 10 – 11 a.m., Saturday, July 21, at their WINK Playland.  You’ll need to bring your own mat.

Estero River Kayak Tour (2 hours)

Florida Blue Center

The importance of good balance will be  featured in a 4-week workshop.  Join Chris Williams from Emeritus Health to learn why your balance gets worse as you age and how to improve it with in-home exercises.  The workshops will be held at 10 a.m. July 6, July 13, July 20 and July 27.
