Public Hearings

Park Place of Estero

Representatives for Park Place of Estero were requesting a development order for their 16-unit single-family residential subdivision.

This property is located at 9400 Block Lane, north of Williams Road and west of River Ranch Road.

Plans call for one or two-story semi-custom homes, with architecture consistent with the homes on Block Lane.  They are planning a shaded, public gathering space with pavers and benches next to a ½-acre meandering lake with fountain.  They added sidewalks along both sides of the road, and will be retaining 3 on-site heritage trees and replacing those which must be sacrificed. (Presentation)

The Board approved this development order with the condition they bring back the gate/signage for review.

Estero Ridge Shopping Plaza

Representatives for the Plaza were requesting approval of the paint colors recently painted on their building.

This Plaza is located at 20041 S. Tamiami Trail on the southeast corner of Estero Parkway and US 41. (Presentation)

The Board approved this application with conditions that the applicant adds more grey color tone to some of the masses of the building and they come into compliance with their signage and landscape.

Workshops

Marriott Springhill Suites Hotel

The applicant is proposing a 5-story, 100-room hotel on a 2.5± acre site located at 10370 Corkscrew Commons Drive, adjacent to Embassy Suites by Hilton.

The applicant was requesting the Board review their revisions to the architectural elements based on the staff’s and Board’s comments. They have added a crosshatch to the base, enhanced the balcony structure and railings. (Presentation)

The Board recommended the applicant bring color chips when they come back before the Board..

University Self-Storage

The applicant is proposing to build a 3-story self-storage facility with 725 storage units along with an ancillary office space located on the west side of Ben Hill Griffin Parkway across from Grandezza.

They have varied the roof height, simplified the shutters, added pedestrian crossings and bike rack, and a separate ADA handicap parking space.   They have added palms along Ben Hill Griffin and a substantial buffer to the north. There will be no monument sign; the signage will be on the architecture.  (Presentation)

The Board recommended adding a mini tower between the two end towers and awnings to add depth.

Public Comment: 4 residents of Tidewater spoke of their concerns with this project.

No voting occurs during Workshops.
