The Planning & Zoning Board started their meeting with a Public Information Meeting addressing a request to rezone the property at 8111 Broadway East from agriculture to commercial use.  This site was originally developed as Estero’s first post office.

The applicant is proposing to add a new facade to the building to fit in with Estero standards.  They presented artist’s concepts showing the addition of windows at the front of the building and towers at each end of the building, rising to a height of 24’6”.  They will provide one driveway, sidewalks and will further address connectivity to the adjacent strip mall.  They will be removing the exotics to the east of the building and replacing them with a 10 foot buffer of native species.  They are requesting four deviations.  (Presentation)

Public Comment: 2 members of the public spoke of their concerns regarding the use of the property.

No voting occurs during Public Information Meetings.

The Board then conducted a Public Hearing for an amendment to Ordinance 15-01 pertaining to the Design Review Board and the Planning & Zoning Board.  The Board felt the wording of the ordinance should be clarified by stating Council can vote to take jurisdiction of a Board decision and review that decision within a 30-day timeframe.  (Ordinance)
