The Village is working on a legal guide for the future growth and development of Estero. It will include standards to control the uses of buildings or areas of land, the rules about building size and height, setbacks from lot lines and required open space. Once completed, it will become the Village’s first LDC.
Residents are being asked to take part in this process. You may participate by providing feedback at public meetings or submit general comments at any time by filling out the form here: http://www.esterozoning.org/. By requesting to be included on this webpage’s email list, you will receive announcements, meeting invitations and notifications of new work products for review.
The LDC will implement the policy direction in the Village’s new comprehensive plan. It will also ensure that the development regulations are more user-friendly, modernized and aligned with contemporary zoning best practices than the transitional LDC which the Village has used since its incorporation.
The LDC project is a significant undertaking and is expected to take over a year to complete.
