Estero High School students are in the process of videotaping a Public Service Announcement (PSA) to help educate the public on better road safety.

The Estero students’ PSA addresses what can result from driving drunk. The videotaping is taking place over several days and is being coordinated by Kea McElfresh, Theater/TV Production teacher with Estero High School, with WINK-TV, Estero Fire Rescue, Lee County Sherriff’s Office, Bonita Video and Estero Life Magazine. The Village of Estero has served as liaison.

WINK-TV is working with Estero High School and the SADD Club of Cape Coral to produce one PSA each for use by their station.  It is anticipated that, by having the young students involved in putting the PSA together, teens will be more inclined to listen to the message.

This public outreach project was initiated by Lee Health Trauma Center with the goal of decreasing crashes and fatalities in Lee County.  The project is a partnership among Lee Metropolitan Planning Organization, Lee Health Trauma Center, Lee County Injury Prevention Coalition, and Drug Free Coalition of Southwest Florida.
