South County Regional Library in Estero

The Lee Board of County Commissioners voted on September 3 to approve an $11 million construction contract with Chris-Tel Construction to renovate the South County Regional Library at 21100 Three Oaks Parkway.

The renovation plans, designed by GHC Studio (formerly BSSW Architects), provide for separate spaces for children, teens and adults, a dedicated program room for children and teens, additional study rooms and an automated material handling system to improve the efficiency of library returns. The interior will be refreshed with new furniture and flooring and the exterior updates include a new roof, electrical system and HVAC system update.

Construction is set to begin in late September and will take about a year to complete. The library will close for the renovations starting 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7. During this period residents and visitors are encouraged to visit another one of the 13 branches within the Lee County Library System or visit the temporary service location at Three Oaks Park, 18251 Three Oaks Parkway, beginning Monday, Sept. 16.

The Lee County Resident Information Lookup tool, which can be accessed by visiting www.leegov.com/rit, can be used to find all library locations. After you enter your address, scroll down to “Community” and click on “Find My Library.”
